| To better prepare our players for Babe Ruth, all
Warrendale Little League Major League teams have agreed to restrict aluminum bats to a maximum of a drop-9. This means a 30-inch bat can weigh no less than 21 oz., a 29 inch no less than 20 oz, etc.
Babe Ruth has a drop-5 restriction, and we feel this change on our part will add a necessary rung to the ladder. This ban includes ANY bat with a -10 or greater weight differential, composite construction or comprised of multiple materials in the barrel and handle, any charged or pressurized (air or nitrogen) bats. We, the coaches and officers, reserve the right to add to this list at any time. In watching games over the last few years, we have seen too many line drives come off these enhanced bats that will seriously injure a fielder due to speed and lack of reaction time. It is just
a matter of time before an injury of this nature occurs, and we don't want it to be in our league. This ban of enhanced performance bats is already in place at Nippers, and we expect it to be added at North Waltham.
Any player entering the batter's box with an illegal bat will be called out. |
